The Turkish Red Crescent (TRC), a partner of the TOGETHER Project, has taken an important step toward strengthening disaster risk governance in Türkiye by initiating an Anticipatory Action Feasibility Study and organizing a four-day training in Ankara on 4–7 May 2026.

Among many others, the training brought together representatives from:

  • the Turkish Red Crescent

Participants explored the fundamentals of anticipatory action, trigger mechanisms, early action design, financing approaches and operational applications within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Implemented with the support of the German Red Cross under the RISE Project, this initiative aims to assess the applicability of anticipatory action approaches in Türkiye and contribute to the development of a future operational roadmap for the Turkish Red Crescent. The process will continue through peer learning, stakeholder consultations, data analysis, early warning system assessments and validation workshops.

The initiative strongly aligns with the objectives of the TOGETHER Project, which seeks to enhance multi-level disaster risk governance, coordination and interoperability across institutions and sectors. Insights generated through the anticipatory action feasibility study can support TOGETHER’s efforts to improve risk-informed decision-making, cross-sector collaboration and preparedness systems.

At the same time, the governance tools, coordination models and stakeholder engagement approaches developed under TOGETHER are expected to contribute to the institutionalization and future scaling of anticipatory action practices in Türkiye.
